Seismic Wave Attenuation Module

The seismic wave attenuation module (SWAM) is a conceptually simple device to measure the attenuation of a specimen using the phase shift technique. Unlike the BBAV, this is done through using a sample and reference (usually aluminum). In addition, the entire assembly is designed small enough to fit inside the Paterson rig allowing, for the first time, high accuracy attenuation measurements of rocks at high pressure and with a range of pore fluids.
